Well-Being…Changing for The Better….. What the Fuck does Even That Mean?!?!

Today I was thinking about how when we want to start over, we think there’s some button we press or some majestical process we go through to shed our skin.
Like a human caterpillar…. or human butterfly…. but like would we REALLY be looking forward to getting into a giant chrysalis and sitting for a couple of days just to …..transform…. sounds like claustrophobic hell… and Earth is already half of that.
I wish it were that easy, but really that shit just sounds fucking complicating , no? Pressing a single button, and EVERYTHING changes? Everything? That’s intense for someone who JUST wanted to change their attitude, ways of eating, and possible outlook on an upsetting situation…….
Change does not have to be announced, it doesn't have to be introduced (to every one) , change and you…. shouldn’t be long distant friends, or the friend you only link up every once in a while. It’s not a random yoga class when yo ass has never done yoga [ I mean it can be but it doesn’t have to be ]
Change is with us everyday if we allow it. Yesterday , you got up, didn’t make your bed. Does that mean you need to change up your whole morning routine immediately all because you wanna start making your bed….. No, so make your bed.
We announce these things— sub goals— to ourselves and others to really make it feel like “yeah i’m being productive. the people see me!” but in reality we don’t physically touch on what we mentally envisioned we do. Maybe it‘s because we are scared, maybe it’s because we know that when you pick something up, you got keep picking it up until you’re ready to put it down. Who says you have to put it down? Habits, hobbies, goals these all evolve and sprout , maybe into each other or into an entire empire…. it is up to you.
If you want to start making your bed, just make the fucking bed. Even if it’s an hour after you woke up, 15 minutes after you brushed your teeth, or even 5 minutes before bed….. it’s new, it’s fresh, it’s change.
Change does not need a red carpet, she does need to be acknowledged and appreciated , because she is also and always a sign of maturity, and growth, so always welcome change and thank yourself & her.
Below I have attached a very inspiring Ted Talk by the aspiring Chloe Hakim–Moore, she is a Black business owner, leadership mentor, social impact coach, and was listed on Forbes 30 under 30.
She should know a thing or two about some change! Chloe speaks to us letting us know how to choose ourselves , choose a new path, and choose faith/hopefulness.
Good luck to you, caterpillar. 🐛
